About Amos Byrd, Sr.

A Patriot of the American Revolution for NORTH CAROLINA with the rank of CAPTAIN DAR Ancestor # A010300. Civil Server, Grand Juror Magistrate, Coroner.

Byrd Family came from disputed territory between Virginia and North Carolina; he moved first to near Knoxville, Tenn. In 1799 he came to this county, and settled on what became Byrd and Cane Creeks.

His sons were: Abraham, John, Stephen, Amos, Jr., Moses; daughters, Polly; Mrs. Russell, Clarissa; Mrs. Russell, and Sallie; Mrs. Hayes.

Three of Amos' sons married Gillespies in Tennessee. Amos Byrd was the original emigrant to Missouri."
