Calvin Eugene Harrell was born September 26, 1922, son of Eugene F. Harrell and Maud Harrell. He is the brother of Annie 'Christine' Harrell (1926). He was a Paris High School graduate and attended Paris Junior College.

In 1930, the Harrell family was living in Huntsville, Walker County, TX. In 1940, he lived with his parents, Eugene and Maud, and sister, Annie, at 379 Kaufman St., Paris, TX.

On Friday, June 27, 1941, Calvin Eugene Harrell, 379 W. Kaufman, Paris, TX, left for Duncan Field, San Antonio, TX, where he would do mechanical and ground work at the Army Air base. On Nov. 11, 1942, he began military service with the U.S. Navy. On January 7, 1946, he received his discharge from the Navy.

On Thursday, May 9, 1946, he married Betty Jo Eubank at 10 a.m. in the home of the bride's brother, Jack R. Eubank, 2303 E Cherry St., Paris, TX. The Rev. L. L. Armstrong, Immanuel Baptist Church pastor in Paris, presided over the ceremony.

On Wednesday, December 11, 1946, Calvin Harrell of Paris, TX, was notified by the State Dept. of Public Safety of his appointment with 40 men across Texas as a highway patrol cadet. Selected through a statewide competitive examination in October, he helped fill vacancies created during the war years by death and disability in military service and resignation. In January 1947, he entered 2 months of training to be schooled in all aspects of law enforcement in Austin, TX.

In June 1948, he and Betty had a son, Robert Glynn Harrell, in Potter County, TX. Later in time, they did not remain married. He married again to Ruby Estelle Ruffner.

On June 15, 1986, Calvin E. Harrell, age 63, died with burial in the Resthaven Memorial Park, Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.
