Capt. James hamilton took part in the French and Indian War as well as being a Capt. in the American Revolution.
The following is an excerpt from Hamilton Family of Charles County Maryland: "Third son of Alexander and wife, Elizabeth Schercliffe Green, was born 1715, died in Prince George County, 1785. Married Mary Ann Coombs, daughter of Thomas Coombs and Elizabeth Wharton Coombs. She was sister to Anastasia Coombs, wife of Joseph Hamilton, eldest son of John of Alexander of John.
"Children of James and Mary Ann Coombs Hamilton: Bennett, Thomas, Francis, Ann, Winefred, Mary Ann.
"James Hamilton died 1785. Will proved May 20, 1785. (T.I. Page 222, Prince George Co.) "To sons, Thomas and Francis, wife, Mary Ann Coombs Hamilton, daughters, Ann, Winefred, Mary Ann Mitchel." Witnesses, Francis and Joseph Boone."

- -to have the remainder of the land whereon testator's dwelling plantation is --to have after widow's decease and to the northward of the fence and small branch above mentioned
