About Caroline Squires
The text on the descendants' document for her husband is "George Squires Married 11th Dec. 1842 at [sic] Caroline Sabine, daughter of Alfred Sabine of Westgate Parish - born 30th August 1821 in Parish of All Saints Canterbury. Died 8th March, 1865." It is not clear whether she was born in Westgate Parish or Parish of All Saints, and whether they were married in Parish of All Saints. In Canterbury there is a parish of All Saints and there was until 1835 a parish of Holy Cross Westgate.
There is a record of a baptism of Caroline Sabine, whose abode was Allsaints parish, born 29th August 1821, baptised by Frederick Calder, minister, on 30th September 1821 at the Wesleyan chapel, Canterbury; father Alfred Sabine, baker; mother Maria Sabine. While this would confirm Bill Goodwillie's recollection that there was Methodist ancestry in her family, the differing date of birth and the unlikelihood that she lived in a different parish to her father, make it difficult to be certain it is the same person.
