Elmore was the son of Everett and Margie Woodell Sampson. He married Annie Burns.

The following was taken from the Jan. 1, 1964 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Elmore Sampson, 66, of Rt. 1, Rowland, died Tuesday about 7 a.m. while enroute to see a physician.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 3:30 at Deep Branch Church, and burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. T. M. Swett will be in charge. The body will be placed in the church an hour prior to the service.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Annie Burns Sampson; six daughters, Mrs. Howard Canady, Mrs. H. B. Oxendine, and Miss Annie Neal Sampson, all of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Wilson Jacobs of Bolton, Mrs. James D. Oxendine of Rt. 1, Rowland, Mrs. Luther Lee Hunt of Fairmont, Rt.; four sons, Leroy Sampson of Lumberton, Rudolph of Pembroke, and Rufus and Earl Sampson of the home; 15 grandchildren; three brothers, Warren and Luther E. Sampson of Lumberton, and Walter Sampson of Cleveland, Ohio; five sisters, Mrs. Rose Carter and Mrs. Josephine Hunt of Pembroke, Mrs. Marie Moore of Rt. 3, Maxton, Mrs. Sadie Hunt of Rt. 4, Lumberton, and Mrs. Vernon Freeman of Rt. 1, Lumberton.
