Fannie was the daughter of Everett and Margie Woodell Sampson. She married Hub Hammonds on Jul. 12, 1905 in Saddletree, NC. Her second marriage was to Governor Bell in Robeson County, North Carolina on Jun. 23, 1920. On her NC Death Certificate, she is listed as being married to Henry Hardin.
The following was taken from the May 22, 1961 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Mrs. Fannie Hardin, 78, of Pembroke, Rt. 5, died at 3:30 A. M. Sunday in Southeastern General hospital following an illness of several months.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from Deep Branch Baptist church by Rev. T. M. Swett and Rev. Luther Burns. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Henry Hardin; five sons, Garfield Hammonds of Lumberton, Rt. 4, Fred Hammonds of Red Springs, Rt. 1, James Hammonds of Lumberton, Rt. 5, Sanford Hammonds of Shannon, and Walter Hammonds of Baltimore, Md.; two daughters, Mrs. Retha Chavis of Fayetteville, Rt. 6, and Mrs. Mary Hardin of Lumberton, Rt. 1; six sisters, Mrs. Rose Carter and Mrs. Josephine Hunt of Pembroke, Mrs. Marie Moore of Red Springs, Mrs. Vernie Sampson and Mrs. Vadie Hunt of Lumberton, Mrs. Margie Chavis of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Warren Sampson of Lumberton, Rt. 4, and Elmore Sampson of Pembroke.
