About John Wesley Sampson

John Wesley was the son of Everett and Margie Woodell Sampson. He married Addie Carter on Jan. 31, 1912 in Robeson County, North Carolina.

The following was taken from the Jun. 30, 1955 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

John Wesley Sampson, 67, died at 5 a.m. today at Robeson County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was one of the 23 children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Averette Sampson and had spent his entire life in Robeson County.

Survivors include 4 sons, James W. of Rowland, Ernest E. of Pembroke, Marvin and Wilbert Sampson of Lumberton; 3 daughters, Mrs. Leonidax Oxendine of Fairmont, Mrs. Sam Lowry of MacDonalds, and Mrs. Earl Morgan of Allenton; 4 brothers, Warren, Boyd and Elmore Sampson of Lumberton and Walter Sampson of Cincinnati; 7 sisters, Mrs. Arthur Hardin of Maxton, Mrs. Myra Moore, Mrs. Rose Carter and Mrs. Josephine Hunt all of Pembroke, Mrs. Roscoe Sampson, Mrs. Vernon Freeman and Mrs. Hobson Hunt of Lumberton, and Mrs. Jap Chavis of Detroit.

Funeral service to be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fair Point Free Will Baptist church with his pastor Rev. Vester Oxendine assisted by Rev. John D. Chavis in charge. Burial in Deep Branch church cemetery.
