Ingeborg Blinsmon Pederson

Birth: Mar. 6, 1852 Clayton County Iowa, USA

Death: Apr. 20, 1933 Minnehaha County South Dakota, USA

Ingeborg (Elizabeth) was born March 6, 1852 in Clayton Co, Iowa.

She married Tollef Pederson December 20, 1870, by Rev. Ole Valdeland, probably in Gunder.

Tollef was born in Norway in 1844, his mother died when he was young. His brother Knudt immigrated in 1867 and their father and brother Peder came to America in 1871.

They had 2 daughters Gunhild (Julia) 1870, Sonneva (Susie) 1872 and a son Peder (Peter) 1875 in Iowa.

Tollef had worked as farm help for the Oleson (Blinsmon)family before they married.

After moving to Dakota, Ingeborg and Tollef added more children to the 3 they had in Iowa. They had Ole 1878 married Lena Bonrud, Caroline 1880 married Henry Aaker, Carl 1882 married Minnie Thies, Hendie 1884 married Christina Aaker, Jorgine 1887 married Alfred Loftus, and Theolina 1887 married Henry Solsaa.

Of their family, her sister Kari had the distinction of having the first born in the Dakotas, but Ingeborg had the second born baby in the Dakotas.

"Ingeborg had a medical book (the grandchildren loved to look at the dirty pictures), she was the neighborhood midwife, very strong willed, strong physically, loved to read, knit and spin , she loved to discuss anything, esp. politics (in an argumentative tone), loved to fish, loved to quilt, had a funny sense of humor, and usually got her way (very stubborn)."

They lived in rural Moody County in Blinsmon and Alliance Townships farming. After Tollef died, Ingeborg stayed on the farm and in her last years lived her son-in-law Henry Solsaa and the grandchildren. She died in 1933 at age 81.

She was also called Elizabeth and Isabella.
