Both Lucy and her husband, William Williams, were mutual ancestors of USMC General Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller and US Army General George Smith Patton.

Daughter of Maj. Philip Clayton and Ann Coleman. She was born at the family plantation "Catalpa" in Culpeper, Virginia. Lucy had a brother Samuel Clayton and a sister Susannah Clayton. Lucy married William Williams in 1740. Their children were: John; James; Philip; William Clayton; Lucy (who married John Green) Mary (who married John Stevens) Elizabeth and Susannah, both of whom died unmarried.
