Margaret Rice, also known as Peggy, was born in 1817 in Kentucky. She was the daughter of Samuel Rice , Sr and Phoebe Hitchcock. She died after 1880, in Johnson County, Kentucky

Margaret Rice married Elijah Bayes, son of John Bayes and Sarah Owen, on 14 February 1833 at Floyd County, Kentucky. She married Abraham Justice on 22 April 1852. She married John Salyer on 23 April 1865 at Johnson County, Kentucky. Margaret Rice and John Salyer were divorced on 4 September 1873 at Johnson County, Kentucky.

Margaret appeared on the census of 1850 at Johnson County, Kentucky, listed as Margaret Bays age 33 head of house. Margaret appeared on the census of 1860 at Johnson County, Kentucky, listed as Margaret Justice age 42 living in home of husband.
