Mary Catherine was the daughter of Nick and Florann Oxendine Hunt. She married Rev. Peppers Mahoney Locklear, Sr. on Jun. 21, 1896 in Robeson county, North Carolina.

The following was taken from the Jan. 20, 1950 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Catherine Locklear, wife of the late Rev. P. M. Locklear of Pembroke, will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the First Methodist church of Pembroke. The casket will be opened at the church from 1 p.m. Sunday until time for the funeral. Interment will be in the Old Prospect cemetery. Mrs. Locklear died yesterday afternoon in the Scotland Memorial hospital.

Pallbearers will be John R. Lowry, James Albert Sampson, J. A. Revels, Z. A. Lowry, Delton Lowry, and Theodore Maynor.
