About Michael Becher
- Michael Becher was born 8th April 1674 at Aughadown, County Cork. He attended Trinity College, Dublin aged 17, on the 9th May 1690, described as the son of Thomas Becher.
- Matriculated Dublin University 1695.
- In 1698 he married Peniel Gates.
- 1711 Burgess for Clonakilty/Cloughnakilty on 25 July 1711.
- MP Baltimore 1713 & 1715]". Journals of the House of Commons 12th November 1715 for the sitting of Parliament in Dublin calls him The Honourable Lieutenant-Colonel Michael Becher.
- In 1716 he was a Suffrain for Clonakilty; Randal Warner was also present. Michael Becher swore Lionel Becher a freeman for Clonakilty 24 August 1716.
- He left most of his wealth to his wife Peniel, but some to his nieces Penelope French, Elizabeth Travers, Elizabeth, Mary and Martha Hungerford. His will was dated 14.3.1725 and probated 8.9.1726 On the 13th August 1726 Roger Bernard was elected & sworn a burgess for Clonakilty, Vice Michael Becher, deceased.
