About Pvt. (CSA), Reuben W. Darby

There are some newer researchers that list Reuben's middle name as William. I have researched Reuben W. Darby for 30 years and I have never found any document that lists his name as William. Some have thought his name was Winchester but that is his brother, Winchester D. Darby. I believe that his name is simply Reuben W. Darby and the "W" is not an abbreviation at all. I have seen this on many occasions. Researchers should not list his name as William without any proof or documentation that shows it. (J. Daniel Peardon)
