Jacob earned some renown as a fine Clockmaker. My great grandmother was born Mary Emaline Gorgas (b. 11 August 1840 d. 2 April 1914). She was second cousin to Dr. William Crawford Gorgas. She was the daughter of William Rittenhouse Gorgas, who was the son of Solomon Gorgas and Grandson of Jacob Gorgas, the clockmaker of Ephrata. She married Dr. George A. Horting, dentist who had a sister Cassiah Horting who married a Jacob Gorgas in about 1850-1860 (certainly not the clockmaker or his son). Does anybody know how (or if) he fits into the family?
