WILLIAM DUNLOP

Merchant in Glasgow; Burgess and Guild Brother of Glasgow

According to the late Donald Whyte, William Dunlop, here treated, was the son of James Dunlop of Garnkirk and Margaret Roberton. He is said to have been baptised on 16 January 1662, although a record of birth or baptismal record has not been found for him. According to the late Donald Whyte, William Dunlop, here treated, was educated in Holland. He is said by him to have been admitted as a burgess and guild brother of Glasgow on 29 September 1688, although his burgess record does not mention his father's name.
