JOHN DUNLOP

John Dunlop is the son of James Dunlop of Garnkirk, and his wife, Elizabeth Roberton. The late Donald Whyte has this to say of him: "John, who was trained for merchantile pursuits in Holland, and while at Rotterdam met Bishop Burnet and some of the Scottish Merchants who became involved in the ill-fated Darien Scheme. He settled in London and went on business to New York in 1683. Not long afterwards, probably in November of the same year, he died at Curacio. Death
