Obituary of Great Grandfather William Engel as copied from the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune (slightly paraphrased)

William Engel 79, Engel Road, died unexpectedly at his home at 5:15 Sunday morning November 10, 1946. He was born November 20, 1866 in New York City, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Engel. He came to Wisconsin Rapids when 18 years old and married Anna R. Bulgrin June 30, 1889, here.

Survivors besides his wife include seven children; Bertha (John) Miller, Roy Engel, Eleanor (Fred) Whitrock, Rose (William) Kegler, Glen, and Charles Engel all of Wisconsin Rapids, and Wilma (Avolt) Marzofka of Rudolph; one sister Augusta Strongs-Leonard of Tucson, Arizona. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sons, William in 1928 and Raymond in 1940.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Rev E.H. Walther officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Krohn and Berard Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.
