First Lithuanians came to work in coal mines and factories in Scotland in the end of 19th century. Many of immigrants then further emigrated to the US. In 1897 there were about 3000 Lithuanians in Scotland. Lithuanians established their parishes, communities, organizations and newspapers. The second wave, about 400 people, came after WWII.
