Righteous Among the Nations is an honorific used by the State of Israel to describe non-Jews who risked their lives during the Holocaust to save Jews from extermination by the Nazis.

According to Yad Vashem of January 1, 2013, there were 24811 people in the List of Righteous, of which 844 are Lithuanian citizens (see link below). For a long time the facts of the rescue of the Jews in Lithuania were not mentioned. Although the International School of Holocaust Studies, Yad Vashem, has been rewarding saviours of the Jews since 1963, the people of Lithuania who rescued Jews were able to reveal these facts only after 1990, when Lithuania regained its independence. Only then Holocaust survivors or their children could begin to search for the Righteous of Lithuania. Many of the Jewish saviours, recognised as righteous people of the World, have also received the Lithuanian State Award - the Rescue Cross of the People.

If in your family tree you have an individual whose life is associated with Lithuania and who saved Jews during Holocaust, please add them to this project. It would be great if within profile description there would be brief biography.

Pasaulio tautų teisuolis – tai garbės vardas, kurį suteikia Izraelio valstybė kitų šalių piliečiams, gelbėjusiems holokausto aukas.

Pagal „Yad Vashem“ 2013 m. sausio 1 d. duomenis Teisuolių sąraše buvo 24811 žmonių, iš jų – 844 Lietuvos piliečiai. Ilgą laiką žydų gelbėjimo faktai Lietuvoje buvo nutylimi. Nors Tarptautinė studijų apie Holokaustą mokykla „Yad Vashem“ žydus gelbėjusius asmenis pradėjo apdovanoti jau nuo 1963 m., šios tautybės asmenis išgelbėję Lietuvos gyventojai tai nustojo slėpti tik po 1990 m. Lietuvai atkūrus Nepriklausomybę. Tik tuomet Lietuvoje Teisuolių galėjo pradėti ieškoti per Holokaustą išgyvenę žydai, jų vaikai. Daugelis žydų gelbėtojų, pripažintų Pasaulio tautų teisuoliais, yra gavę ir Lietuvos Valstybės apdovanojimą – Žūvančiųjų gelbėjimo kryžių.

Jei jūsų giminės medyje yra iš Lietuvos kilusių ar Lietuvoje gyvenusių asmenybių, kurie gelbėjo žydus nuo nacizmo genocido - pridėkite jų profilius prie šio projekto. Būtų šaunu, jei profilyje aprašysite bent trumpai asmens biografiją.
