About the Wardell surname

Wardell Family of Brick: Wardell Family of Brick is a Founding family of the town, they moved here from Monmouth Beach, once called Wardell Beach. It is Unknown exactly when they moved here, but it was before the 1710s. They were spread out throughout Brick, a lot of locations have been lost to history, two Notable locations were The Wardell House on Burnt Tavern, Demolished 2018, And the Land still named after the Family, Wardell's Neck. This Landmass boarders the Metedeconk River, and Lenape Creek respectively. This is thought to be where a deal between the Native Metedeconk Lenape, and the Wardell Family took place. John Wardell Married an Indian girl, and in exchange the Lenape were given a section of Wardell's Neck to live on. It is unknown what happened to the Lenape after that, as the Land originally Given to the Lenape was sold around, and eventually ended up in the hands of the Pine Shores Corporation. Who developed it into the settlement known as CedarCroft, which is known for its Arrowhead discoveries, and Indian Street names.
