Angus,
I noticed I did make a mistake.
Sojourner`s birth surname field should be unlocked and left blank, then re-locked.
Having been born a slave, she would have had no surname.

Makes sense...Done

The site i use is based on "Records of the Reformed Dutch Church in New Amsterdam and New York, Marriages from 11 December 1639 to 26 August 1801"

I understand from Shorto that NY has always been very liberal so no surprise that the English take over of governance had no impact on religious life

PS it was nice to see a familiar "face" but this foray was intended to have a Rapalje flavour... they just keep popping up!

Another please Joost the Frenchman

11/27/2014 at 10:19 AM

Joost is my fourth great aunt's brother's wife's brother's wife's second great aunt's husband's sister's 2nd husband.

And through one of the New Netherlands families that I study - Denyse - very cool. Teunis Dionijsen Denyse

11/27/2014 at 3:33 PM

Hatte Blejer (absent until Nov 1) i forgot to request all the name fields be locked.

Some of the surviving documents list him as Frans Joost but the bulk of evidence supports that his given name was Joost.

Dear Curators,

Here is an early advocate for the deaf community: John Clarke .

Thanks,
Jessie German

Close to my heart...my eldest daughter was born deaf, her husband is also deaf. My daughter works with the deaf community locally and also teaches sign language to the hearing.

Thanks, Angus!

Alex Moes I locked all the fields for now.

Please MP Cornelis Gerritsz Bontekoe 'de Theedokter'

"He applied what were generally Cartesian theories in medicine, but with innovations such as a purely hydraulic and muscular explanation of the mechanism of the heart."

Not sure what Medical projects this might qualify him for inclusion in.

12/1/2014 at 8:52 AM

Alex Moes done.

12/3/2014 at 12:24 AM

I think i could be a good idea, in an attempt to avoid confusion, to MP Barent Gerretsen Gerritszen and his two wives Marritje Hendricks and Grietje Volckersszen Schut as well as her sister Magdalena ‘The Flying Angel’ Dircks.

12/3/2014 at 8:31 AM

Done, Alex.

12/4/2014 at 5:05 PM

Please MP Sara Cooke and also cut from parents - she is older than them and from a different part of Holland.
