Emigrated to America to Grantsburg, Wisconsin. According to Lee family lore, Maren Wold Lee sometimes sent her brother money.
In the winters he worked as a lumberjack, was with his brother Herman when Herman was killed by a falling tree. He also farmed, became the town sheriff, hung wallpaper, and started a brass band. This patent, number 1390185 granted on Sep 6,1921 that he appears to have filed was for an improved cant hook for handling logs: a Patent filed in 1920 by a Charles J. Wold of Grantsburg Wisconsin............
