Adolph A. Beste, 81, Missouri, passed away October 23, 2004. Mr. Beste, the son of John C. Beste and wife Cecelia R., nee Westhoelter, was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Krakow. He received his schooling at St. Gertrude Grade School in Krakow. Mr. Beste served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe. On June 18, 1949, he was united in marriage to Laverne Elbert at St. Gertrude Church in Krakow. He was co-owner of Beste Brothers Milk Hauling. Mr. Beste was later employed as a transport driver for Hausgas and then Petrolane. Later, he worked for Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home. Mr. Beste was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Washington. He was an usher for many years. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2661, Knights of Columbus Council 1121, Elks Lodge 1559 and WCU of Krakow. Mr. Beste was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Bernard J., Al, Rudy, Harry, Joseph and James Beste and two infant brothers; and one sister, Irene Lause. He is survived by his wife, Laverne, Washington; one daughter, Sandy Lucy and husband Gary, Washington; two brothers, Robert Beste and wife Dorothy, Washington, and Thomas Beste and wife Shirley, Krakow; one sister, Delores Frankenberg, Krakow; six sisters-in-law, Mabel Beste, Lorraine Beste, both of Krakow, Mary Agnes Beste, Union, Marilyn Bleckman and husband Moe, Judy Klenke, all of Washington, and Alice Elbert, Krakow; one brother-in-law, Rich Meyer, Washington; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends. A funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Washington with the Rev. Robert Heimos officiating. Burial was in St. Francis Borgia Cemetery, Washington. Memorials to Our Lady of Lourdes New Church Building Fund, St. Francis Borgia Renovation Fund or Unity Hospice are preferred. The Beste family was served by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.

ELBERT-BESTE NUPTIAL SATURDA

         A  pretty wedding was solemnized in St. Gertrude’s church in Krakow, on Saturday, at eight-thirty o’clock in the morning, when Miss Lavern Elbert, daughter of Mrs. Emma Elbert and the late Julius Elbert. Became the bride of Mr. Adolph Beste, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Beste, before an alter banked with gladiolus and ferns.  Rev. B. F. Scheffer officiated at the double ring ceremony.
         The bride, who was given in marriage by  her uncle, Mr. Arthur Elbert, wore a gown of beautiful white satin, featuring a  sweetheart neckline, with a net yoke edged in Chantilly lace, long pointed sleeves and a fitted bodice.  The fully gathered skirt was encircled with twelve rows of matching lace , which extended in a long sweeping train.  .  A crown held secured her fingertip veil of illusion outlined in Chantilly lace.  She wore a double strain of pearls, a gift of the groom, and carried a bouquet of lilies and lilies of the valley streamers.
         Miss Delores Beste, sister of the groom was maid of honor and Miss Dorothy Aholt, a friend of the bride, was bridesmaid.  The both wore nile green.  Misses Dorothy and Marilyn Elbert, sisters of the bride, were junior bridesmaid, and wore pink.  Miss Judy Elbert, sister of the bride, was flower girl and wore yellow.  Their gowns were all fashioned alike faille taffeta.  They carried bouquets of yellow glamelias tied with ribbon to match their dresses.  The flower girl carried a colonial bouquet of assorted flowers tied with green, pink and yellow ribbon.
        Michael Lause, nephew of the groom, served as ringbearer.  He wore a blue suit and a white carination boutonniere.      
        The groom chose as his attendants Mr. Jerome Elbert, brother of the bride, and Mr. Robert Beste, brother of the groom.  They wore blue-gray suits with a white carnation boutonniere.
        Mrs. Elbert chose for her daughter’s wedding a pale orchid figured dress and black accessories, and Mrs. Beste wore a multicolored figured dress, also with black accessories .Their corsages were composed of white carnations.
        The wedding breakfast and dinners were served at the home of the bride for 65 guests.  In the evening a reception and dance was held at Union auditorium for man relatives and friends.
        After a week’s honeymoon, the young couple will make their home with the bride’s mother.
        Mr. Beste is part owner of the Beste Transfer Company.
