About Aloys "Al" Peter Beste
Aloys P. Beste, 80 died Monday, November 17, 1997, at Grandview Healthcare Center, Washington. He was born April 25, 1917, at Krakow, the son of the late John C. Beste and wife Cecelia, nee Westhoelter. Mr. Beste served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of BPOB 1559. Mr. Beste was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia Beste, nee Peters, April 30, 1988, four brothers, Bernard Beste, Rudolph Beste, Joseph Beste, and James Beste, and one sister Irene Lause. He is survived by a special friend Juanita Schulte, Washington, two sons, Jerry Beste, Omaha, Nebraska, Galen Beste, Washington, one daughter, Linda Weiss, and husband Steven, Atlanta, Georgia, four brothers, Harry Beste, Krakow, Robert Beste and wife, Dorothy, Adolph Beste and wife Laverne, all of Washington, Thomas Beste and wife Shirley, Krakow, one sister, Delores Frankenberg and husband Herman, Krakow, six grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 20, at St. Gertrude's Church, Krakow, with Father Dennis Zacheis officiating. PETERS-BESTE MARRIAGE
Miss Virginia S. Peters, daughter of Mrs. Martha Peters, and Mr. Aloys Beste the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Beste, all of Krakow, were married Saturday, October26, in a double ring ceremony at St Gertrude Church at Krakow. The Solemn High Mass was performed by the Rev. B. F. Scheffer.
The bride, who was escorted to the alter by her uncle, Mr. Herman Peters of Union, wore a gown which was fashioned with a high neckline and off-the shoulder yoke of net trimmed with a wide bertha. The net skirt, with it’s flowing train of lace edged with a full ruffle of lace, was gather onto a fitted bodice of all over lace which had long pointed sleeves. Her double veil of bridal illusion and needlepoint were held secured by a triple tiara of pearlized orange blossoms. She wore a double strand of pearls, a gift of the groom, and carried a white prayer book with a single orchid, and lilies of the valley entwined in the streamers.
The bridesmaids were Mrs. Francis Peters, cousin of the bride, and Miss Delores Beste, sister of the groom. Their gowns identical in style, were made of net. The featured sweetheart necklines, short puffed sleeves, and bouffant skirts. The shoulder lines and hip lines of the dresses were ornamented with sequins. They wore side clusters of matching net flowers in their hair. Mrs. Peters wore a yellow gown while Miss Beste was gowned in orchid. They carried bouquets of yellow and orchid daisy, pompoms and wore gold earrings, a gift from the bride.
The groom chose as his attendants Virgil Peters, twin brother of the bride, and Adolph Beste, brother of the groom. The groom and his attendants wore blue grey business suits and Mr. Peters, who escorted the bride to the alter wore a grey suit.
The bride’s mother was attired in a grey pin stripe suit, and the groom’s mother in navy blue. Both wore shoulder corsages of white gladiolas. The bride’s aunt, Mrs. Herman Peters, wore a black suit and wore a corsages of orange gladiolas.
Immediately following the ceremony, a breakfast, a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Herman Peters, was held at the Franklin Country Club for the wedding party and Father Scheffer, Mrs. Martha Peters, Mr. and Mrs. John Beste, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Peters. The dinner was held at the Krakow hall and was followed by a reception in the afternoon. A long white covered table was arranged in the center of the hall under a huge white wedding bell. On the table was a three tiered wedding cake complimented on each side by a bridesmaid cake, one of orchid and the other yellow. Mums, pompoms, and daisies were used to decorate the hall.
After the reception the young couple left for a trip to Denver, Colorado. The bride wore a black sun dress adorned with an orchid and black accessories.
Upon their return, the will make their home with the bride’s mother in Krakow. Mr. Beste is employed with the Buescher Wholesale Co.
