About Thomas "Tommy" Frank Beste

Thomas F. Beste, 86, Washington, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018, at his residence. Thomas, son of the late John C. Beste and wife Cecelia, nee Westhoelter, was born May 1, 1931, in Washington. He received his education from St. Gertrude School in Krakow. On Nov. 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Shirley Schroeder, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Washington. Thomas was employed by Franklin County Country Club as greenskeeper/superintendent for 52 years. He was a parishioner of St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Among his survivors are his wife, Shirley Beste, Washington; five children, Dennis J. Beste and wife Sheila, Dutzow, Beverly Brueggemann, Waverly, Bruce Beste and wife Karen, Debbie Rodgers and husband Joseph "Butch"^ and Terry Beste, all of Washington; one sister, Dolores Frankenberg, Washington; grandchildren, Scott Beste, Dutzow, Sarah Brinker and husband Nick, Washington, Jared Brueggemann and wife Shawna, Branson, Andrea Boland and husband Daniel, Waverly, Erica Ballmann and husband Joe, Dutzow, Jake Rodgers and wife Jenny, Andrew and Matthew Beste, all of Washington; great-grandchildren, Ignacius, Jameson, Silas and Adler Boland, Olivia and Henry Brinker, Jackson and Ella Ballmann and Calvin Rodgers; brother-in-law, Leroy Schroeder, Washington; two sisters-in-law, Lavern Beste, Washington and Mary Agnes Beste, Union; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Julie Marie Brueggemann; his parents; eight brothers, Bernard, Aloys, Rudolph, Harry, Adolph, Joseph, James and Robert Beste; and one sister, Irene Lause. Visitation was scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Washington. A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 28, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment was private. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Mercy Hospice or a charity of donor's choice. The Beste family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.

SCHROEDER-BESTE NUPTIAL

In a 7:00 o’clock mass performed by Rev. Elgar Bockenfeld on Saturday morning, November 22. Miss Shirley Schroeder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Schroeder, became the bride of Thomas Beste, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Beste.

       The bride, who was accompanied by her father to the alter and given in marriage by her father, was attired in a gown of white lace over satin fashioned with a portrait collar trimmed with seed pearls and long tapered sleeves.  A pearl trimmed cap held secured her finger tip veil.  She carried white chrysanthemums and  wore a single strain of pearls at her neck which was a gift of the groom.  
      Mrs. Felix Lause, sister of the groom, who served as matron of honor, was attired in a gown of chantilly blue.  Mrs Herman Frankenberg, another sister of the groom and Miss Delores Gildehaus, cousin of the bride, served as bridesmaids and wore gowns of in fuschia  color.  Their gowns were fashioned with lace bodice with pleated net trim and tiered skirts of net.  The carried white chrysanthemums and wore single strains of pearls, gifts of the bride.
      Mr. Beste was attended by LeRoy Schroeder, and brother of the bride, as best man Joseph Beste, his  brother, and Herman Frankenberg, his brother-in-law as groomsmen.  All wore black tuxedo with white carnations boutonnieres. 
      For the daughter’s wedding Mrs. Schroeder chose a dress of aqua blue  with which she wore black accessories.  Mrs. Beste wore royal blue with black accessories.  Each wore a white carnation corsage.
      Following the ceremony breakfast was served at the “100” Club dinner at the home of the bride’s parents and in the evening a reception was held at the Washington City Park auditorium.
         The young couple will make their home in Krakow.  The groom is an employee of the Franklin County Country Club.
