About Harry Evert Beste

Harry E. Beste, 80, Ballwin, formerly of Krakow, passed away Monday, April 21, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield. Mr. Beste, the son of John C. Beste and his wife Cecelia R., nee Westhoelter, was born June 25, 1922, at Krakow. He received his education at St. Gertrude Grade School, Krakow. On Nov. 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Nieder at St. Gertrude Church, Krakow. Mr. Beste was a member of St. Gertrude Parish, Knights of Columbus Council 1121, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2661, Elks Lodge BPO 1559 and the Easter Monday Fishing Club. He was employed as a truck driver for Homer Ryker and Son milk hauling company. Mr. Beste served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth J. Beste, nee Nieder; seven brothers, Bernard J. Beste, Rudy Beste, Joseph Beste, Al Beste, James Beste and two in infancy; one sister, Irene Lause; two grandsons, Nick Beste and Adam Beste; and one granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Terschluse. He is survived by three sons, Dale Beste and wife Doris, Krakow, Mark Beste and wife Debbie, Clover Bottom, and Harry Lee Beste, Krakow; two daughters, Carol Ann Williams and husband Ray, Krakow, and Connie Terschluse, Robertsville; three brothers, Adolph Beste and wife Laverne, Washington, Robert "Bob" Beste and wife Dorothy, Washington, and Thomas Beste and wife Shirley, Krakow; one sister, Delores Frankenberg, Krakow; three sisters-in-law, Mabel Beste, Krakow, Lorraine Beste, Krakow, and Mary Agnes Beste, Union; a special friend, Shirley Pehle, Ballwin; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday, April 23, at St. Gertrude Church, Krakow. Celebrant was the Rev. Dennis Zacheis. Interment was in the church cemetery.
NIEDER-BESTE NUPTIAL AT ST. GERTRUDE’S IN KRAKOW NOVEMBER 10
Miss Eljzabeth Nieder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nieder of Krakow, became the bride of Harry Beste in a double ring ceremony at St. Gertrude’s Church at the 7:30 o’clock mass. The ceremony, first in the history of the parish on a Sunday, was performed b the pastor Rev. B. Scheffer. Preceding the bride and her father to the alter were bridesmaids Carolyn Pryor and Marqaret Nieder, sister of the bride, accompanied by the groomsmen Rudolph Beste and James Beste. Four brothers of the groom, Benny, Adolph, Robert, and Tommy served the Mass. The bride wore a white brocaded taffeta gown, beautifully designed with a long flowing train attached to the fully gathered skirt. Her veil was held in placed by a tiers of pearl clusters and orange blossom formations. Her only jewelry was a diamond star brooch and she carried white carnations. The bridesmaids’ gowns were designed exactly the bridal gown, different only that Miss Pryor wore blue and Miss Nieder wore a yellow gown and carried orchid carnations. Both wore net flowers as headdresses. A wedding breakfast was given at the Country Club for the bridal party and families, by Mr. and Mrs. Dick Pryor. A candlelighted supper was served at the parish hall for approximately forty-two guest, followed by a dance later in the evening, The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Beste, is employed b Otto Schuettenberg, distributer for Alphen Brau. Mr. and Mrs. Beste will live in Krakow in their own newly furnished home.
