GEORGE2, John1 (of Milford)
George Baldwin, son of John Baldwin and Mary Bruen, was born, it is said, in 1662 (see Find a grave re born 1665), in Milford, Connecticut. He settled in Branford, Connecticut as early as 1686, and joined the Church there in 1693. He married with DEBORAH ROSE, dau. of Deacon Jonathan Rose, of Branford. He d. Oct. 26, 1728, and she survived. He was a blacksmith, and like many of the trade in that say, held in high esteem. He was, before 1715, Deacon. He left a large estate.
Children were: John (1/13/1690), Phebe (11/7/1692; m. Benjamin Bartholomew, of Branford on 10/26/1713), Israel (12/13/1694), Elizabeth (12/20/1697; m. Jonathan Butler on 11/20/1717), Deborah (12/27/1699; m. Edward Johnson on 2/21/1722), Martha (1/13/1702; m. Josiah Butler on 9/29/1725), Daniel (7/1/1705, on 'a Sabbath day, about sunrising'), Rebeckah (10/28/1707; m. Nathan Lindsley on 1/9/1733), Noah (3/20/1710), and Zillah (bpt 1/1712; m. Nathaniel Page, of Branford on 2/16/1736).
A good share of the inhabitants of Branford are among the descendants of George, in male and female lines.
