The 1850 Census lists Edmund with his parents at St. George Parish, Accomack County, VA. He is shown as Edmund Hart, age 7 in HH #277 headed by John Hart, a 38 year old laborer.

The 1860 Census lists Edmund with his parents at Onancock, Accomack County, VA. He is shown as Edmund Hart, age 13 in HH #582 headed bt John Hart, a 49 year old farmer & his wife Elishea, age 49.

The 1870 Census lists Edmund with his parents at Locust Mount, Accomack County, VA. He is shown as Edmund J. Hart, age 25 in HH #LM1003 headed by John Hart, a 60 year old farmer.
