Listed in 1920 census as 31 years old (born 1889) from New Jersey, married to Belle, age 21 (born 1899) from New York. They lived at 23 Seymour Ave. Newark in a home that is still present in Google maps photo 2016. He is listed as merchant (Haberdasher). The 1930 City Directory listed Emil Susskind Mens Furnishings at 227 Springfield Ave. This business failed. Of note, next door business was H. Neuss Carpets. At 204 Springfield Ave was M. Neuss and Sons Floor Coverings. At 215 Springfield Ave was National Clotning Co (originally Susskind and Sons), the business of Louis Susskind. Louis lived around the corner from Manny. In the 1930 census, they lived at 239 Avon Ave and had two daughters, Rosalind age 10 and Minalov age 2 3/4 years. In the 1940 census, they lived at the same address. Emil was listed as Emanuel Susskind. His occupation was insurance agent. He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. 45 Branford Place, Newark.Rosalind described her father as introverted (similar to Joseph Susskind). In the 1950 US Federal Census, Manny, Belle and Marilyn lived at 350 Leslie Street.
