About Phoebe Maude Wilmarth

Phoebe Maud LAWRENCE, daughter of George Thomas and Nancy Emiline Lawrence was born in Adams Counties on November 6, 1884. She departed this life on January 25, 1958 at the Creston Hospital at the age of 73 years, 2 months, and 19 days. In her early life she joined the Methodist Church in Brooks, Iowa. In 1903 she was married to John Wood, who departed this life three weeks later on December 5, 1907. She was united to Howard W. Wilmarth, who preceded her in death August 18, 1950. To this union four children were born, Warren and Wilda who died in Infancy, Mrs. Floy Van Pelt and Vern Wilmarth of Corning. Six grandchildren, Eugene Van Pelt, Fort Devens, Massachusetts, Neill Wilmarth, Nodaway, Iowa, Mrs. Darlene Curtis, Nodaway, Iowa, Mrs. Pauline McCoy, Waynesville, Missouri, Harold Wilmarth, Corning, Iowa; two great grandchildren, Kay Ann Wilmarth and Lorri Lynn Curtis in addition to other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Roland Funeral Home last Monday, January 27, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. W. H. Sinning. Music was furnished by John Riegel accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Kathleen Cook. Pall bearers were Willis Cooper, Morris Dunham, Donald Wilmarth, Rolly Spring, Paul Bauer, and Kenneth Bunting. Burial was in Quincy Cemetery. Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Van Pelt, St. Louis, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Sours, Nora Springs, Iowa; Mr. Willis Cooper, Radcliffe, Iowa; Mrs. Alta Wilmarth, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
