About the Kugelmann surname

I know of three Kugelmann males who, upon immigrating from Germany to an English-speaking country, changed their name to Colman or Coleman. An unofficial opinion from German surnames expert Lars Menk is that the progenitor of the family had the first name of Kallman. The adoption of the Kugelmann name was recent enough that each of these men made the same adaptation.
