Charles Edward Kelly

"Kelly, Charles Edward, 1873-1957 Born in the sub-district of Cloonbur No. 1, at Oughterard in County Galway, Ireland on 7 April 1873. Charles was aged 17 when he arrived in Australia on 6 October 1891 with his mother and three siblings on board the Royal Mail Steamship Oroya. Charles married Isabella Marr Gilmore (1870-1957) in Holt’s Marriage Agency at 442 Queen Street in Melbourne on 10 September 1898. He enlisted to serve during World War I (1914-1918) but had to undergo surgery for appendicitis on 28 August 1915 and was discharge as medically unfit for service on 1 February 1916. Charles died at the Hospital for Mental Hygiene at Kew in Melbourne on 22 March 1957."
