Biography

Hannah, wife of Nicholas Paine, is traditionally acknowledged as the daughter of Jonathan Higgins and his wife Elizabeth (Rogers) Higgins. However, Eastham records from that period are not complete and her parentage is not proven, leading at least one researcher to state: . . . but who her parents were, is not as yet known."[1]

Nonetheless, most family genealogies accept her as Jonathan and Elizabeth Higgins' daughter. Hannah Higgins was born in about 1672 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Plymouth colony, New England.[2] Hannah married Nicholas Paine, b: 1663 in Eastham, Plymouth Colony on 9 Jan 1699 in Eastham, Massachusetts Bay province. Priscilla, born Oct. 16, 1701, married William Noricut, or Norket, of Harwich, in 1726,

who with her husband emigrated to Connecticut after 1735.

Phillip, born Nov. 18, 1704. He died April 10, 1725, unmarried

Lois, born Sept. 20, 1705, married Edmond Freeman, April 22, 1725. She died before 1739.

Abigail, born Aug. 3, 1707, married Iliggins.
