Biography

Jemima Higgins was probably born on 14 February 1666/7, a twin of Joseph, in Eastham, Plymouth Colony, the daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Rogers) Higgins based on her age at death.[1][2][3][4]

She married John Mulford on 01 November 1699 in Eastham, (then) Barnstable, Province of Massachusetts Bay.[5][6] [7] He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Barnes) Mulford, born in Eastham in July 1670.[8]

Jemima died on 8 May 1723 in her 57th year, and was buried in the Ancient Cemetery at Eastham.[2] Jemima and John had no children.[1][9]

John married, secondly, Mercy Harris on 25 December 1723 in Eastham, by whom he had Jemima, Mercy and John.[1] John Mulford died on 20 April 1730 in his 59th year and was also buried in Eastham's Ancient Cemetery.[2] His widow Mercy Mulford of Eastham was granted administration on his (intestate) estate on 17 March 1730, and guardianship of her three children on 2 April 1730. In August 1743 guardianship was granted to John's brother Thomas Mulford Jr.[1]
