About Sally Stoney
Sally is mentioned in Burke's Irish Family Records, but not in the Visitation of Ireland, suggesting some uncertainty about her existence. Burke's gives a birth date of 1786. But in view of a joke told by her father about having twice thirteen children ('Some old annals of the Stoney family', p. 72), it seems likely that she is a namesake for Sarah, named in the Annals, a thirteenth child born in 1786, who died soon after birth. The birth date of c. 1788 comes from 'Some newer annals of the Stoney family'.
