About Sarah Stoney
Burke's Irish Family Records records a Sally born in 1786 and dying unmarried in 1817. She is not mentioned in the Visitation of Ireland, suggesting some uncertainty about her existence. But in view of a joke told by her father about having twice thirteen children ('Some old annals of the Stoney family', p. 72), it seems likely that she died soon after birth and that her sister Sally, who died in 1817, was named after her. Sally's birth date of c. 1788 comes from 'Some newer annals of the Stoney family'.
