The marriage register for his sister Ruth records as a witness Thomas L. Stoney of Lurgan, Co.Armagh. Thomas Johnston Stoney seems the most likely candidate.

"Married at Kilnastulla church, Thomas Johnston Stoney of Harvest Lodge Esq to Eliza youngest dau of Richard Going of Bird Hill, co Tipperary Esq" - Limerick Evening Post, 8 May 1813.

Memorial in Borrisokane church: "Sacred | To the Esteemed Memory | of | Thomas Johnston Stoney Esq. | late of Harvest Lodge, County Tipperary | fourth son of | Thomas and Ruth Stoney | of Arran Hill, | Born December 1780, and died in his eighty-ninth year | The 11th. day of August, A.D. 1869 | at his residence, 13 Sydney Place, Bath | and is interred in Bathwick Cemetery, Bath."

thepeerage.com agrees that he was born in December 1780, and 'Some old annals of the Stoney family' agrees that he was the fourth son of Thomas and Ruth.

His birthplace is derived from another source, which gives the birthdate of 1774, so may not be accurate.

'Some old annals of the Stoney family' gives the date of death as 1868, but the Visitation of Ireland and his memorial gives the date 1869, which is confirmed by the register of deaths and the probate of his will.
