About the Maples surname

The great American novelist, Cormac McCarthy lived in East Tennesse for a time. He wrote eight or nine novels set in that locale before moving to the Southwest part of the country. One of these East Tennessee novels as they are referred to, Suttree, mentions the names of Maples and names from the King family, also from Seveir County. I'm sure he made up the given names, but it's pretty neat to be reading a book and running across names of your family in it.
