About the Port surname

My name is Edie Clark and I live in Michigan. My mother was Deborah Port Clark, daughter of Elsabeth Port, who was the only child of Adolphus J. Port, a doctor who died at age 26. He and his family were from Wilton, Iowa. I visit the graves of Dr. Port and his family about once a year. His widow was 22 years old. They had a one year old daughter when Dr Port perished in 1873. That daughter was named Elsabeth after her mother, and when she grew up she became a social worker in Chicago. Though she never married, she adopted five children, of which my mother was one.

I'm interested in finding out if I have any Port relatives. I can be reached at EdithAClark@gmail.com
