This project is a “gate-way” to the extensive Israeli community on Geni. As such, this page is in Hebrew (English translation at bottom). Feel free to post questions or whatever in English, in the Project Discussions area. You’ll find no shortage of people who’ll respond, including seven Israeli Curators. Abuse will NOT be tolerated.

מבחינת פעילות כוללת באתר, ישראל היא במקום הרביעי בכל העולם (אחרי מדינות דוברות אנגלית... אסטוניה והודו, סה"כ כ-4% מהפעילות באתר). למרות זאת ה"נוכחות הציבורית" שלנו, כמעט ולא מורגשת. לכן החלטנו, חברי צוות ה אוצרים מישראל (מתוך כ-200!), לייצור את הפרויקט הזה, כדי ליצור "פינה ישראלית" בתוך כל ההמון, ואולי כך לייצור קשר ומסגרת בה נוכל לעבוד יחד, לעזור אחד לשני ופשוט להיות ישראלים. תרגישו חופשי לייצור דיונים בעברית, לשאול שאלות, להוסיף קישורים לפרויקטים ישראלים ויהודיים.

אנחנו נשמח גם לעזור למשתמשים חדשים וותיקים באתר להתאקלם ולהפיק ממנו את המרב. לפחות אחד מאיתנו יהיה מחובר במרבית שעות היום. אז יאללה תפנו את כל הקרובים וחברים שלכם להצטרף! ישנן שתי אפשרויות לעשות זאת:

  2. כמשתמשים מנוסים, יש לנו גם פטנטים רבים לפתור בעיות בחלקים הלא ציבוריים של העץ. נשמח לעזר גם כאן, בהסכמתכם.
  3. יגאל אחראי לתרגום מרבית האתר לעברית (עם עזרה מרבים אחרים), כך שגם בתחום זה נוכל לסייע. במידת הצורך נוכל לייצור תיעוד נוסף על האתר.
  4. אנחנו לא נסכים להתנהגות פוגעת בתוך הפרויקט או בחבלה בעצים שלנו. במידת הצורך נוציא אנשים מהפרויקט, או ננקוט בצעדים יותר קשים, כדי לייצור מקום נעים לכולנו.
  5. אנחנו בתקשורת יומיומית עם צוות האתר עצמו (ז"א נשיא ג'ני וחלק מצוות העובדים). במידה ואתם נתקלים בבעיות (טכניות בעיקר) בהם אנחנו לא נצליח לסייע, נוכל להעביר פניות באופן ישיר אליהם. בדרך כלל נקבל מענה הרבה יותר מהיר מאשר דרך אתר התמיכה העמוס מדי.

Israel is Geni’s 4th largest group of users (after English speaking countries, Estonia and India), accounting for over 4% of all net-traffic to Geni, and Hebrew the 3rd most used interface language, with over 18K users (check out the official statistics). We even have 9 of our own Curators (out of ~200). Despite this, we have practically NO “public presence”, in public discussions and projects. Because of this, we Israeli Curators decided to create this project to be a quite “Israeli corner” off to the side of the rest of Geni. We hope, in this fashion to connect with each other, work together and simply to feel free to be Israelis. Like all projects, this one has its own Discussion area. Feel free to start discussions in Hebrew, ask questions and add links to Israeli / Jewish projects. We will also be glad to assist new and more experienced users to get started and to make the most out of this amazing site. Most likely at least one of us can be found online most hours of the day. So yalla, go and tell all of your relatives and friends to join the project.

There are two options on how to do so:

  1. In order to just receive notification whenever the project gets updated (mostly discussions), press the Follow button on the top-right.
  2. To become a Project Collaborator, press the Actions button, and then the “Join Project” option. We will then add you ASAP. In THIS specific project, there is NO real advantage is doing so.

In conclusion

  1. As Curators, we have many tools to resolve issues in the PUBLIC parts of the tree, as the mandate to do so. We have created the following discussion for you to request assistance.
  2. As experienced users, we have all sorts of tricks to solve problems in the PRIVATE parts of the tree. We will also gladly assist here, with your permission.
  3. Yigal single-handedly translated most of the site into Hebrew (with help from a dedicated team). So here too, we can assist. If required / requested, we can create additional documentation about the site.
  4. We will NOT tolerate offensive behavior within the project or deliberate damage to our shared trees. If required we shall remove people from the project, or even take more severe measures, in order to maintain a place that is pleasant for all.
  5. We are in almost daily contact with Geni’s actual staff. If you encounter problems (mostly technical), that we are unable to resolve, we can contact them directly. This is generally must faster than through the presently overloaded Geni Support team.
