This is a umbrella project about sources and informations of etymology of first names and surnames, for the whole World, from a online and offline sources such as websites, books, articles, and other records.

Aim of project

The purpose and aim of this project is to share a informations with Geni users in Geni Community, in order to be informed about the origin and history of personal first names and surnames.

Please follow this steps:

  2. Please, make a link to the right with other related existing Geni project pages
  3. You can free update and add more on the list below title of References, External links, Other Sources and Resources, Books, articles, etc. and Useful links.
  4. On the bottom below where is a title 'Notes' - please add a source what is not useful and have incorrect informations.

A few directions for upload a Photos and Documents:

  1. Every person who upload a documents in the project, please be aware that you after when you upload, put and fill all fields:
  • Title, Date, Location,
  • Description and other things such as mentioning a sources or citations (for example: name of authors, title, etc..) source of uploaded document, and after that put a document visible on the public mode.
  1. Also add in which part of a Collection is on your side. (is - a Census, Newspapers, Other)
  2. If a document what you want to upload, have a content with more pages than one, please before upload put all pages and collect in the one file , when you do it then upload a whole document.
  3. Do not upload a separate pages of the same document, or separate pages of the same source/books/literature.
  4. A Reason: It would be a useful, better and easy searchable, for anyone, if all pages are part of the same uploaded document such as one file and part of document.
