In South Africa, Arnold Peiser, son of Garzinsky Peiser, from Posin, a city in Prussia (now Poland), settled in the Cape in the 1800s, and married Fransina Louise Rosfouig, daughter of Peter Rossouw (1822-1859) from the Breede River area. Their two sons, Benjamin (no issue) and Peter were active in the diamond-fields, and co-owned the Peiserton farm, which was mined for diamonds. Peter Peiser was an original shareholder of De Beers. A diamondiferous ore is named after the Peisers.
