Objective

This project functions as a 'repository' for the immigrants arriving in New Amsterdam between 1609 and 1674. Click the profiles attached to this project and you will see all the New Amsterdam immigrants that are thus far identified on Geni.

Many analyses have been made of the make-up of these immigrants.

This project is closely associated with the New Amsterdam - Immigrant Ships project, an inventory of ships that arrived in New Netherland in that same period.

Chronology of immigration

In the list below, we try to offer an overview of the families that immigrated into New Netherland - in chronological order. This is an ongoing project. Please feel free to add or suggest names.

One of the objectives should be to make Master Profiles for the progenitors of these families. We invite direct descendants to become the primary managers for these progenitor profiles and to document them.

The list shows the oldest known year of immigration of these families through their male immigrant progenitor. Females who came alone were not infrequent but remain difficult to track.
