Origin unknown?
There is a similar jewish family name, spelled Kolander.
It has also been proposed that the name Collander would be formed from the Latin word "collanus", meaning mountain. The ending "-ander" could then origin from the Greek word for man, "andros", as in the case in several other family names. The name Collander could then refer to a miner (Bergman in Swedish, Bergmann in German). But this is pure speculation.
