Huisman Genealogy and Huisman Family History Information

Several Huisman families originated in Overijssel. In our case, the family moved from the Beulake area to Opsterland in Friesland after Beulake was inundated by a major flood. Many of the Huismans were involved in the peat moss business right up to the early 1900's, first in Overijssel and then Friesland. Ultimately, some of the family moved to Leeuwarden, from which one branch (mine) emigrated to Canada in 1952.
